You are at home, or at your office, you just started your computer and there is a different behavior : a scan is being done.

You are then getting a Windows Security looking like window but with Security Central on it, and it says you have threats and more on your computer. You cannot seem to remember you installed that application. Did you ?

This Security Central is…. a malware. This is a rogue program, a threat for your computer. Bad news is that if you do see that window on your computer, it means…your system is infected. This malware is a clone of a similar one called XP Police Antivirus.
Always remember, those are bad programs. Do not take them lightly, they won’t. They will rather do their best to hurt your system the most they can. Besides, the people behind those threats also want to make money on your behalf by trying to make you purchase some fake registered version.

Did you just installed some new coded ? Maybe it was Security Application hiding as some fake application. This is a common way for such malware to infect computers. The same is true for fake online scanners: they will make you download and run some piece of code claiming it is to help scan your computer. In fact, you are installing that malware, Security Central and you computer is becoming infected.

You should know that some sites are being infected (hacked) with malware like Security Central. Hackers will install such a malware ready to be downloaded by people like you and I. Without some very good security programs or if the threat is recent, your computer will most likely become infected. A common way is for the website to force a download unto your computer, this is called drive by download. If you install and run the application, your computer become infected.

After being installed unto your system, Security Central will modify the Registry so it will be loaded and stays resident in the background on each logon. The malware will create lots of fake files then. On the next boot, or logon, Security Central will load itself and will do a fake system scan. It will report in a Windows Security looking like window infections, threats, adware and more. Be sure to understand this is a fake program reporting fake threats. The main goal is only to scare you to buy the registered version of this malware. The registered version is also fake. Those people only wants your money, nothing else and to scare you a lot.

Security Central will impede your system the following ways:

This malware will neutralize your anti-virus program. You will not be able to use it neither to update it. You won’t neither be able to access many security related websites.

It will also hijack your browser. It means, you will be taken to the homepage of Security Central whenever you are accessing things online. The same goes with Google search results. The malware will redirect you to various malicious websites rather than the sought results.

Until you do clean your system and remove Security Central, common tools like System Restore and the Registry Editor will not work anymore.

Never forget those reports about threats, viruses and more are but fakes ones. Security Central wants to scare you enough to go with their solution: to buy a fake registered version.
