Antimalware Doctor – A Fake Anti-Spyware Program

Antimalware Doctor is malware that disguises itself as a legitimate anti-virus / anti-spyware program. It performs an unsolicited quick scan of your computer then gives out fake security alerts and false scan reports informing you that your computer is infected. But, the real infection is the Antimalware Doctor program itself. The malware will claim that you need to purchase the software in order to remove the bogus infection. It goes without saying but please don’t buy this rogue anti-virus / anti-spyware program! If you already have, we recommend you contact your credit card company to dispute the charges.

Here’s how to remove Antimalware Doctor:


• Reboot and Login to Safe Mode

• Unregister : Start → Run → type “regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\System32 \ hookdll.dll”

hookdll.dll

• Delete infected registry values:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Antimalware Doctor Inc\Antimalware Doctor
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Antimalware Doctor
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run “Antimalware Doctor.exe”

• Search, Locate and Delete the list of infected files:

Antimalware Doctor.exe
setupapp7070010000.exe
enemies-names.txt
hookdll.dll

• Restart the computer
