What is Active Security?
Are you getting the following on your computer:
“Active Security detected the virus of the harmful program on your computer!
Internet Explorer is infected with worm Rootkit.Win32.Agent.pp.
This worm can harm your computer.”
or are you getting any similar Windows screen with the dreaded words ‘Active Security’ warning you of something unexpected ?
If so, then do nothing except keep reading the present report ! We will give you the tools to remove Active Security once for all.
Your computer has been hit by a rouge software called Active Security. This very bad program was designed for two main functions. The first being to compromise your computer. The second to try to trick you into making a purchase with your credit card for a fake software !
Active Security is similar to programs like Protection System and CoreGuard Antivirus 2009.
This nasty program, besides possibly the above warning you read, can also do the following:
Disable your task manager and many other Windows applications
Hijack your desktop. We mean you will not be able to update your security (read anti-virus software) once infected with Active Security
You got infected through one of the common channels used by rouge softwares, like:
Trojans including fake online scanner !
Downloading a fake video codec and once you installed it…. you were installing this rouge software
Sometimes, hackers will enter a given website and setup it in order to do what is known as ‘drive by download’. When visiting this particular website, it will push a download. If you have not the right security on your computer or if the rouge software is a very recent one, your computer might become infected.
Once infected, those Trojans will start to create files on your computer then to reconfigure the registry in order for Active Security to run every time you start your computer.
Active Security will then scan your machine and identify those files it created as being… infections ! You will be warned your computer is infected (see the message at the start), you will get lots of pop-ups and you will be asked to buy the registered version of this rouge software.
Do not do it ! It is but showing you fake results ! All those thieves want is your money ! Nothing else !
This nasty piece of software will also block your anti-virus program and won’t let you access related websites. The main reason being that this rogue program does not want you to delete it !
Others possibilities are the Registry Editor, System Restore and more will be disabled.
Active Security will change your browser settings, will shows you commercial ads (mostly the one to buy the registered version of this fake program) and will stays resident in the background.
Do not panic ! First you have to do a full and in-depth scan of your computer to be sure you are not infected with others viruses or similar programs. Keep in mind, there are probably others viruses, besides Active Security, on your system. We can but recommend Spyware Doctor with Antivirus to help you for that task.
